Ohio Licensing Requirements

Buying for personal use in Ohio?

Without business licenses, you will need a Broker's help to bid on clean and salvage titled vehicles in Ohio.

If you're buying in another state, view the Licensing Map or search our No License Required inventory.

In Ohio, dealers and dismantlers will need to provide CrashedToys an operational license and a sales tax license for the same physical address, as well as sales tax exemption forms. A Buyer Identification Card, known simply as a BID Card, is also needed when buying salvage vehicles in Ohio. This can be obtained from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Operational licenses include dealer, dismantler and business licenses, also issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. General business licenses and licenses certificates can be acquired from your local municipality.

Don't forget to get your vendor's license from the Ohio Department of Taxation. You can also submit a letter confirming registration for the County Vendor Sales Tax.

These links will provide the forms and information you need to get started with licensing and BID Cards:

Additionally, please complete the following forms and fax them back to CrashedToys' Licensing Department at (800) 787-8650. These documents will be processed within one to two business days of receipt.

General businesses, exporters and private individuals buying in Ohio will need to go through a Broker for all clean titled and salvage items, as well as for boats, jet skis and snowmobiles.
