South Carolina Licensing Requirements

Buying for personal use in South Carolina?

Without business licenses, you will need a Broker's help to bid on clean and salvage titled vehicles in South Carolina.

If you're buying in another state, view the Licensing Map or search our No License Required inventory.

In South Carolina, dealers, dismantlers, general businesses and exporters will need to provide CrashedToys an operational license and a sales tax license for the same physical address, as well as sales tax exemption forms.

Operational licenses include dealer licenses and business licenses. Dealer licenses, such as Retail, Wholesaler, Motorcycle and Travel Trailer Dealer licenses, are issued by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Business licenses may be obtained from your local city or county office. The South Carolina Department of Revenue is your go-to for the Retail License.

These links will provide the forms and information you need to get started with licensing:

Additionally, please complete the following forms and fax them back to CrashedToys' Licensing Department at (800) 787-8650. These documents will be processed within one to two business days of receipt.

Private individuals buying in South Carolina will need to go through a Broker for all clean titled and salvage items, as well as for boats, jet skis and snowmobiles.
